Us like them are we (05:46) Traduci ita

(da "Different kinds of life")

Wondering how it feels
to be only one of the possible victims
all you have to expect is some fool's choice
What a large collection of potential hang-men
just waiting for that choice to work
Waiting for someone who'll give'em
just an excuse to do what someone convinced'em
they were born to...How can't we realise
they are more than we thought!
When I woke up this morning'
I found myself a nigger
People who had looks filled with hate of me
they didn't like the colour of my skin
and a one who tries to make me feel at my ease
without any apparent reason
So I came back home
just to discover I became a Jewish
A swastika painted on my door:
they'd like to see me turn to soap
and a one who said: "They miserable wretch!
Leave in peace these poor Jewish!"
And still I don't know if I feel more different
when them beasts try to tear me apart
or maybe while someone
treats me well at all costs
'cause he needs to repress his sense of guilt
And this can only end
when walking 'round your town
you will notice no more that I'm black
you won't notice that I'm Jewish,
that I'm gay or that I'm red
and you'll see only a man
that is walking next to you
And this morning, when I woke up,
I realised that it was me
the one who was treatin' me well
but it's stronger than me,
I keep on on my way
but I dream of a world
where this song has no reason to be
